Our Story
It was an otherwise uneventful summer afternoon in 2021. The Covid pandemic still had its grip on the world, albeit weakening day by day. Shabnam vented her frustration to Kaushik saying that she had to primarily read and reread the old Bengali books during the last one and a half years when she was mostly homebound as she only had a few good modern-day Bengali books in stock. Kaushik pointed out that many good Bengali books are still published every year. Then, a discussion started, which made the duo start Freedom Group with the notion of publishing modern-day classics of Bengali literature, which would inspire people to think.
Today, Freedom Group can proudly declare that the books it published in 2022 and 2023 are still heavily in vogue. Even today, people buy and read those books and often share reviews on social media platforms. It only proves that Freedom Group is on the right track to create literary treasures of Bengali literature.
In 2024, Freedom Group started another venture in the UK. Freedom Group International Limited has been registered in England and Ireland. Freedom Group International Limited is headquartered in London. This company aims to translate modern-day classic Bengali literature in English and make that available to global readers.
